Landslide Occurs at Jalan Tapah – Cameron Highlands, Triggers Rapid Water Flow Downhill

In a statement, the Chief Police of the Cameron Highland district, Superintendent Azri Bin Ramli, said a landslide occurred around 3:45 PM at Jalan Tapah, Cameron Highlands. The landslide trapped a motorcyclist under a pile of fallen trees. Fortunately, the rider was successfully rescued without any injuries.
Two cars were also involved in an accident after a Honda City stopped suddenly to avoid the landslide. The incident also caused rapid water movement downhill from the landslide area.
As a result, traffic congestion occurred in both directions.
The police received reports from the public about the matter at 4 PM and as of 6:15 PM yesterday, cleaning work was completed and the road was accessible to the public.
Tanah Rata’s ADUN, Ho Chi Yang was also present at the scene to observe the area and confirmed on his Facebook post that the road is now accessible to the public.
The police also urged the public not to come up with any speculation about the matter and confirmed that no deaths or injuries were reported.
