by · GaadiWaadi.com

Hyundai Creta EV is set to make its debut in early 2025, aiming to compete in the midsize electric SUV segment; could boast a range of over 450 km

The electric version of Hyundai’s Creta, frequently spotted testing on Indian roads, is expected to launch in early 2025, possibly debuting at the Auto Expo. This midsize electric SUV will join a competitive field, taking on rivals like the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, Mahindra XUV400, and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and its Toyota sibling in the growing e-SUV segment.

In a recent interview, Hyundai Motor India’s CEO and Managing Director Unsoo Kim, said, “Despite the sluggish market conditions, we have successfully maintained profitability in H1 FY 2024-25, largely due to our proactive and continuous cost control measures. Further, we will be launching the Creta EV for the mass market in the coming months and we expect it will be a game changer in the EV market,”

Recent spy shots reveal several design updates of the Hyundai Creta EV, such as new 18-inch aero-insert wheels, a closed-off front grille, and reworked front and rear bumpers. While the LED headlamps and tail lamps maintain the standard Creta’s style, subtle adjustments give the EV version a more modern feel.

The electric Hyundai Creta’s interior mirrors that of its ICE counterpart, likely retaining similar features and tech within a familiar layout. Modifications to the current Creta’s K2 architecture will accommodate the battery and essential EV components, potentially resulting in slightly larger dimensions.

Inside, the Hyundai Creta EV will get a twin-screen setup, a steering wheel with a distinct look and finish, a steering column-mounted drive mode selector, six airbags standard, and Level 2 ADAS, ventilated seats in the front, a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, 360-degree camera, wireless charger, and so on.

The Hyundai Creta EV is likely to offer both single and dual motor configurations, targeting a driving range of over 450 km on a full charge. Although it will support DC fast charging, it remains uncertain whether advanced features like V2L and V2V charging will be included. The electric motor could potentially be sourced from the entry-level Kona Electric.
