Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, husband Robert's combined net worth Rs 78 crore: Affidavit

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's affidavit reveals she has assets of over Rs 12 crore, while her husband, Robert Vadra, owns nearly Rs 65 crore. The couple's combined liabilities exceed Rs 10 crore.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who on Wednesday started her electoral innings by filing her nomination for the upcoming Wayanad Lok Sabha bypoll, has declared assets worth over Rs 12 crore.

In her affidavit submitted to the Election Commission of India (ECI), Priyanka Gandhi disclosed that she possesses movable assets valued at Rs 4.27 crore, that include deposits of varying amounts in three bank accounts, investments in mutual funds, PPF, a Honda CRV car gifted by her husband Robert Vadra, and over 4,400 grams (gross) of gold worth Rs 1.15 crore.

The 52-year-old leader also declared her immovable assets at Rs 7.41 crore, which includes two inherited half shares of agricultural land in Mehrauli area of New Delhi and a half share in a farmhouse building located therein, all of which together are now worth over Rs 2.10 crore. Besides that, she has a self-acquired residential property in Shimla in Himachal Pradesh, which is presently worth over Rs 5.63 crore, according to her affidavit.

In contrast, her husband, Robert Vadra, reported a substantial Rs 39 crore in movable assets. He holds immovable assets amounting to Rs 27.64 crore.

Priyanka Gandhi has a liability worth Rs 15.75 lakh and her husband has a liability worth Rs 10 crore.

The Wayanad candidate also stated that her source of income includes rent, interest from banks, investments and other means. Robert Vadra's income sources include business, rent, bank interests, investments and others.

After filing her nomination, Priyanka Gandhi said she has 35 years of political experience, which began at the age of 17 when she campaigned for her late father, Rajiv Gandhi, in 1989.

Priyanka, who reached Wayanad on Tuesday night with her mother and Congress Parliamentary party chairperson Sonia Gandhi, held a massive roadshow along with her brother -- Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi -- in Kerala's Kalpetta and then addressed the thousands who were gathered there to give her rousing welcome with placards, balloons and drum beats.

"At the age of 17 years, I first campaigned for my father in 1989. It has been 35 years now (since then)," she said.

"I have campaigned for my mother, for my brother and for many of my (party) colleagues. This is the first time I am campaigning for myself," the Gandhi scion added.

Priyanka Gandhi also said that the people of Wayanad stood with her brother Rahul when the whole world had turned its back on him.

"My whole family will always remain indebted to you and grateful to you for this support. He (Rahul) is sad to leave you, but I have promised him that I will only strengthen the bond between you and him," she said.

Rahul Gandhi, who also addressed the gathering, asked the people of the hill region to take care of his sister, Priyanka Gandhi, just as they had protected and looked after him when he needed it most.
